Welcome Home! This was the welcome awaiting Grand National winner, Oxo

Welcome Home! This was the welcome awaiting Grand National winner, Oxo, when he returned to the stables at Royston. Out of thirty four starters for the race at Aintree on saturday (21-3-59) only four horses finished the course. Eight horses were involved in a pile-up at Bechers on the first circuit and another six went out of the race there second time round. Oxo however, jumped perfectly except for the last fence and went on to win 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Wyndburg. March 1959 P009324
