A lifeboat which the inventor claims to be un-capsizable
A lifeboat which the inventor claims to be un-capsizable and which if capsized will still be a boat because the bottom is hollowed out with seats and can be floated on the water.
It will not retain water shipped because of emptying valves.
The owner and inventor Mr H. A. Gaskin of Knightsbridge will sail the boat across the Atlantic Ocean to America with three other volunteer crew.
The skipper Ex-Commander C.E.J. McFarlane RNR says it can be done.
This boat has taken Mr. Gaskin over 30 years to perfect, and he hopes the Board of Trade will allow it to be used on ocean going liners and merchant ships.
The boat is buoyed by tanks or other buoyant material and is nearly ready for launching.
It will be taken to the Thames for inspection and then to Falmouth ready for its trip across the Atlantic.
Picture shows: Mr. H.A. Gaskin, pictured with skipper McFarlane inspecting the water outlet valves underneath the boat.
