Two early reminders of RhylOs proud life-saving tradition have been found after spending decades hidden under a carpet.
The two metal signs, with the words RNLI Lifeboat Station, were found fin an old railway workerOs cottage in Talacre. which Is now the home of 96 year old Elizabeth Lloyd.
Workmen renovating her cottage found the two signs under a carpel beside her coal burning stove.
Mrs Lloyd was given the sign by her father, Robert Williams, who was a member of the lifeboat crew and helped save 11 lives during his 21 yearsO service.
It Is thought the the signs were once in the old Gronant boathouse, built In 1844 but abandoned when the sea began to encroach upon It.
Picture shows: Head Launchman at Rhyl lifeboat station Norman Walker with the two signs.
