Corporal Kildin and Land girl Joyce Smith, with some of the 275 pigs which form part of the farming activities at a Royal Canadian Air Force bomber station in Great Britain. Geese waddle round the station buildings and potato patches abound along the runways. All this has been accomplished since January when the airport had only eight pigs. 36-year-old Corporal Kildin (a former farmer) took on the job of starting the farm and with the assistance of eleven land girls and four airmen the farm is worth now nearly £ 5000. 9th July 1943
