Treves (or Trier) to Thionville railway. This line was busy before the war carrying passenger and freight trains from Treves in Germany to Thionville and Metz in France. Now the only trains to use this line, which is mined at all bridges and heavily guarded, is a war material train, which only a few days ago carried tanks and guns to station in advance positions of the Siegfried Line near the Luxembourg frontiers. For silence the train is hauled by a smokeless diesel loco. The train shown in the picture is travelling to Wies, a tiny Germany village on the Moselle, where tanks and guns were landed a few days ago by the same means October 1939
