Here is George who was second in command of the Polish submarine SOKOL which has accounted for six enemy vessels in the Mediterranean. A few days ago, George and another officer were awarded the D.S.C. and six others of the crew the D.S.M. The SOKOL chased a convoy into an enemy harbour, was caught in a net and attacked with depth charges. She escaped however and the next day attacked the convoy again, sinking a destroyer and two supply ships. George is now commander of the SOKOL which carries a net sign as its emblem. He and the crew are spending shore leave in England after a year at sea. The petty officer torpedo man of the crew to gain the D.S.M was a member of the crew of the famous Polish submarine ORZEL when she first came to this country after one of the most hazardous trips of the war. No names are given for fear of reprisals in Poland but George is proud of his - that is what British naval officers call him. Circa 1941. © Mirrorpix

Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
