Soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force in Northern France give a wave to camera as they pass from the undressing tent into the bath tent at their camp.
To make sure that all the soldiers get a regular wash a number of bath units tour the area occupied by the BEF. They have a regular service from point to point and they can accommodate sixty men an hour by pitching a marquee near a stream or pond and having the water filtered and heated.
It takes a unit half an hour to pitch the marquee and be in full operation.
