Pictured, the wash almost swamping the passengers of an amphibious motor car, made its appearanace amongst the numerous sailing and motor boats following the competitors as they headed for the ocean. They are Richard Pilkington driving with his wife Patricia, behind him the two passengers are friends Anne Murray and Penny Swain who wave at crew of the tall ships as they sail away. 24th May 1964
