Liverpool Corporations new assistant, a three hundred thousand computer, makes its debut when the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Alderman Herbert Allen put the machine into operation by pressing a button, 19th April 1967. The computer, housed in a special air conditioned room in Commerce House, Sir Thomas Street, will eventually play a major role in the lives of Liverpool people, dealing with such differing subjects as rate records and child vaccination
