Marsden couple Albert and Annie Whiteley, who met at a Sowerby Bridge dance where Mr Whiteley was in the band, have just celebrated their golden wedding. They were married at Christ Church, Sowerby Bridge, and lived there for three years before moving to their present home in Rock View.
Their two daughters, Jean and Margaret, are both married and live locally. Jean has two teenage children and Margaret works for the Inland Revenue.
Mr Whiteley was a textile machine fitter at John Edward Crowthers in Marsden before he retired. He now enjoys playing the organ and piano. His wife left work to have the first of their children. She is a member of Marsden Parish Church Mothers Union. 9th April 1986
