The Britten-Norman Trislander mail aircraft which made an emergency landing at Newcastle Airport after a fire broke out aboard.
The pilot, Stephen Bevan, 26, was on a late night mail run from Liverpool to Edinburgh when fire broke out in the rear engine.
Mr Bevan turned off the engine, which automatically extinguised the fire, about 46 miles north-west of Newcastle.
