Richard Attenborough, the triumphant new film director, became an actor again on Friday
Richard Attenborough, the triumphant new film director, became an actor again on Friday. He went to Shepperton Studies in Middlesex and put on make-up and a costume for the first time in 20 months. He plays an army general in the film Grigsby. Behind his back, appropriate to the plot, are Stanley Baker, (Major Grigsby) and Honor Blackman, who plays the generals wife having an affair with the major. Mr. Attenborough could, of course, still bask in the great success of Oh! What A Lovely War which marked his debut as a director, and do nothing for a while. Instead, he was taking direction from Gordon Fleming, a young director who went to films from television.
