HMS White Bear is one the Hydrographic survey vessels serving with the East Indies Fleet. She acts as headquarters for smaller vessels which penetrate small creeks and rivers to survey areas either unchartered or not chartered for many years.
The data obtained by these ships is brought to the mother ship and then transformed into vital charts for Allied shipping with the help of printing plant which makes HMS White Bear a floating "Advanced Printing Unit".
