It was released in UK cinemas 70 years ago in November 1950 - but because of the length of time since then is not always well-remembered.
The story centres on a former British agent who helps a young woman wrongly accused of murdering a country gamekeeper escape the clutches of the police.
The main roles of David Somers and Sophie Malraux were played by box office favourites of the time, Trevor Howard and Jean Simmons.
The pair arrived in Newcastle to film the location scenes in the spring of 1950.
