RAF Mosquito intruders which gained fame for their train busting exploits while operating from Malta to Sicily, are now carrying on their work from bases in Italy.
On two consecutive nights these RAF Mosquitos of the Tactical Air Force successfully intruded over a wide area in Northern Italy, attacking communications targets from Milan across
to Venice and down the west coast down to Leghorn. A total of 19 trains were shot up during the two nights and several of the locomotives were damaged. Two of them were seen to explode.Other targets included searchlights, railway buildings, tracks, roads and enemy landing fields.
