A deserted village, Stokenham, Devon, England, World War Two

A deserted village, Stokenham, Devon, England, World War Two.
The US Army have taken over the village in South West England, whilst the inhabitants have been evacuated to safety. Only Flossie, the scotch terrier, (pictured) remains. Here he sits, howling, outside the village inn, The Tradesmen Arms.
Picture shows the village of Stokenham one of the South Ham villages in Devon which was evacuated in November 1943 for Operation Tiger a D-Day
The US Army did based themselves in the South West of England ahead of June 1944 Normandy Landings, so it is possible it maybe around this date.
Picture taken circa 1st May 1944
