A strike force of BeaufIghters of the RAF Coastal Command, escorted by Mustangs from the U.S. 8th Air Force, attacked a German convoy of six merchant vessels and six escort vessels off the Norwegian coast on
8th Aug 1944.
For the loss of three Beaufighters and three Mustangs, four merchant vessels were left on fire, two of them were blazing furiously.
All escort vessels were also left burning. Three, possibly, four, torpedo hits were scored on the blazing mervhant vessels.
