Renowned throughout the world for their armaments, Vickers Engineering Group Research and Development Division have developed several methods of forming metals by use of shock waves. A range of shapes can be formed from a tubular blank, and Vickers decided that this process could widen the scope for the design of stainless steel hollowware. They asked the Newcastle On Tyne College of Art and Industrial Design to collaborate in design, and manufacture of the trial parts. The aim has been to design a coffee pot which would embody all the forming features of the technique. 16x12 Print in an MDF Wooden Frame with 180 gsm Satin Finish Paper. Glazed using shatter proof thin plexiglass. Frame thickness is 1 inch and depth 0.75 inch. Fluted cardboard backing held with clips. Supplied ready to hang with sawtooth hanger and rubber bumpers. Spot clean with a damp cloth. Packaged foam wrapped in a card.
