Medals for Special Constables. Some 5, 500 officers and men of the Metropolitan Special Constabulary were recipients of the Long Service Medal. The distribution was made by the Duke of York at Hyde Park. About 300 awards were made personally, and the Duke also handed the medal to widows of special constables who died in the service. Pictured, inspecting the parade prior to distributing the medals. 2nd October 1921
