Personnel of Queen Alexandras Imperial Military Nursing service who were the first women to arrive in Northern France following the Normandy landings of 6th June 1944. On June 13th, seven days after the landings, Lieutenant Colonel Helm of Colchester arrived with two sisters followed by a party of another 50 three days later.
