Mayoral lamp at Darlington. The special lamp outside the Mayor of Darlingtons house in Oakdene Avenue, complete with coat of arms and the word Mayor on the glass. The post and lamp is differently constructed to the ordinary lamp. Upon enquiring why the lamp was put there the reply was " The gas company have the privilege of putting the special lamp outside the Mayors house, free of charge. That is if the Mayor desires it". 11th February 1935
