Great-Grandad Anthony Foley, of Braeside, Dunston, Gateshead, was given a birthday present of a trip on Concorde.
The retired engineer will be celebrating his 71st birthday by booming through the sound barrier on his favourite aircraft.
The Foley family, knowing his fascination for the plane, clubbed together to but him a seat on a fund-raising flight over th North Sea.
