Portugal Coup General Antonio Spinola took control of Portugal after a dawn
Portugal Coup
General Antonio Spinola took control of Portugal after a dawn military coup on the 25th April 1974. He toppled the right wing regime of Dr Caetano. The coup was mounted by young officers weary after 13 years of Colonial wars and was relatively bloodless. Three people were reported dead and 39 wounded
