The Queen, flanked by members of the Royal Family including her husband the Duke of Edinburgh and their two children Charles and Anne, waves to her new subjects from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. This picture was taken the first time the Queen appeared on the balcony. Such was the demand to see her, she had to return several times. The sxth and final appearance was at midnight.
