Two wheelchair champions from the Percy Hedley School in Newcastle show off the cup which the region won at the third National Spastic Games. The school takes the trophy because, although it was awarded to the North East region, the Percy Hedley athletes did enough on their own to win the top team trophy. The North East won 45 medals and 36 of them went to people from the school. Pictured are Dennis Sproates aged 16 years and Christine Sharples aged 13 years. Dennis won five medals and two first places in the games and Christine won two medals and four firsts. 6th July 1971
