The new ambulance for animals presented by the Daily Mirror National Pets Club to the PDSA. It goes into operation just before the presentation at the animal hospital of the PDSA at Ilford, Essex. The vehicle is to be used in the East End of London and eastern suburbs within a twelve mile radius. Pictured, 10 year old dog Lassie, was driven home from hospital in the new ambulance. She is pictured here with Carol Shuttleworth, 18, an assistant in the PDSAs operating theatre. Lassie was in hospital for a major abdominal operation. 29th October 1963
