Two members of the WVS are busy acting as "Mums"

Two members of the WVS are busy acting as " Mums" to the men fighting in the Borneo jungle. Valerie Axe, 25, from Hornsey, Yorkshire and Jean Mockett, 32 from Eastbourne, Sussex, are helping the men with their Christmas gift problems. The women collect orders from the men on patrol and then barter for the presents in the stalls and shops of Kuching. The Forces Air Mail then airspeeds the presents to friends and relatives. Pictured, The Beatles are even popular in Borneo, Val and Jean seen in a store with the owner Kwong Lee. 18th December 1964
