Over 40 years ago, when Mrs Joyce Giddins, now aged 62

Over 40 years ago, when Mrs Joyce Giddins, now aged 62, was close to death suffering from a perforated ulcer, surgeon Mr. Vincent Nesfield saved her life.
Mrs. Giddins, from South Lynn Drive, Eastbourne, has saved up and bought a lifeboat, and named the boat OVincent Nesfield".
She scraped together £ 11, 000 with jumble sales and competitions and the RNLI agreed that with this donation she could name the boat after the surgeon.
Picture shows: Mrs Joyce Giddons looking over the Oakley class relief lifeboat.
