After 27 years of gallant service, the William Gammon lifeboat plunged down its slipway

After 27 years of gallant service, the William Gammon lifeboat plunged down its slipway at Mumbles Lifeboat Station, Swansea for the last time on 27th August 1974.
She has been replaced by a more modern, self righting boat, the £ 100, 000 Pentland from Thursoe, Scotland which has served in the stormy waters off the north coast.
