The youngest and oldest fireman in No. 36. Fire Force area met at Loughton fire station

The youngest and oldest fireman in No.36. Fire Force area met at Loughton fire station on the day that
Fireman Richard Salter, aged 71, of Albert Road, Buckhurst Hill, went into retirement.
The youngest fireman", Charlie Fickllng, tried to enlist in the NFS at Tottenham when only seven years
of age and was advised to return when he was a little bit older.
Charlie accordingly waited until he was a week older and then went back, to offer his services again.
So the Tottenham Fire station fitted him up with a little blue uniform and " adopted him as their mascot.
