The mascot of Worthing Sea Cadets Band is 7 year old Leonard Banbridge.
For six months, little Len of Penfold Road, Worthing, son of a stoker now at sea, followed the cadets round everywhere they went.
They all liked him and made a fuss of him. Then one day his uncle, also a Navy man, thought
his nephew looked rather out of place among the sailors, so he made Len the uniform of an Able Seaman, complete with lanyard, bell bottom white cap with black chin strap and toy bugle.
After that Len became the official mascot of the band and accompanied them on all their outings.
Here he is pictured ushering in alongside the tall drum major, the rally of the Womens Land Army of West Sussex at Arundel castle.
