The scene at No.38 Dudley Road, Folkestone when a shell fired from the German batteries on the French coast struck the house. Mrs Daisey Mockett was killed instantly and her eighty year old mother Margaret succumbed to her injuries at the Royal Victoria Hospital two days later. Thirteen others, including three children, were injured. Three houses were demolished, twenty were seriously damaged, and fifty slightly damaged.
