A Lockheed Hudson of the RAF Coastal Command received direct hits from ant-aircraft guns
A Lockheed Hudson of the RAF Coastal Command received direct hits from ant-aircraft guns when on reconnaissance over Norway. Shell pierced both wings and shattered the fuselage, starboard engine, rudders and punctured the right tyre. A petrol tank was holed and many gallons of fuel were lost, yet in spite of all this, the plane was piloted home to Britain safely to her base on one engine but with crew unhurt.
Picture shows: Damage to the plane after returning to base.
