The so called " Tobacco factory" at Carocetto, Italy, scene of bitter fighting during the bridgehead battle, fell to British troops on 28th May 1944.
Carocetto is a small self-contained community, consisting of a number of buildings in the shape of a square round a church, cinema and shops and has been heavily bombed by and shelled by the Allied Forces.
