RAF daylight raid on Cologne 2nd March 1945 which was the last of the 262 air raids the city suffered throughout the war.
In the morning and afternoon of 2nd March, strong forces of Lancaster bombers and Halifax planes of RAF Bomber Command attacked the city in support of the advancing Allied ground forces. The object was to bomb enemy concentrations of troops and armour known to be in the City and to block communications.
