HMS Truant has returned to Britain after an absence of 21 years in the Mediterranean
HMS Truant has returned to Britain after an absence of 21 years in the Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and Java Seas.
As she came alongside the depot ship, she flew the Skull and Crossbones " success" flag of the Submarine Service, recording her successes, over 20 Axis ships sunk or damaged.
Four stars each indicate successful gun actions; sixteen white bars stand for ships torpedoed. HMS Truant was commanded by Lt Commander HAV Haggard DSO, BSC, son of Admiral Sir Vernon Haggard and nephew of Rider Haggard, the famous novelist.
