The usual cook of the Catholic Womens League canteen in Bicester, Oxfordshire
The usual cook of the Catholic Womens League canteen in Bicester, Oxfordshire, fell ill just after Christmas and Lady Norah Viscountess Torrington rolled up her sleeves and took over in full view of the appreciative lads and lasses who would have otherwise have to go back to the barracks to eat.
This is a mixed forces canteen, Army and Air Force, WaFs and ATS.
Picture shows: Smiling and cracking jokes with the lads and lassies awaiting service, Lady Torrington hands over a hot cup of tea to one of the ATS girls.
