The road from Imphal to Tamu in Burma cleared by British sappers
The road from Imphal to Tamu in Burma cleared by British sappers.
The road was previously only able to take heavy traffic as far as Palel at the feet of the Chin Hills.
British sappers with the aid of Burmese workers, converted the track from Palel, India over the mountains to Tamu, Burma into a two way road for heavy traffic and it is now one of the main supply routes for the Fourteenth Army troops closing in on Manderlay.
British armour is seen making its way along the road with drivers changing the wheel in the foreground.
