British Soldiers attack Weeze.
British troops fighting their way south eastward between the Ms and the Rhine entered the important German centre of Weeze on 2nd March 1945 and after clearing the town pushed on southward to within a mile Kevelaer at Kleve. To reach Weeze the troops advanced through a forest and crossed the River Niers by means of assault craft.
Weeze is a municipality in the Lower Rhine region, in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia in the district of Kleve in the region of Dsseldorf.
