A US combat patrol crossed into Hanweiller, Saar Basin, just alongside Saarguemines, North East France/Germany border area, , our most forward position to clear all houses on opposite side of the bank. They were under steady artillery and mortar shell fire, during which the assault boats of the patrol were destroyed. Rescue boats were sent and they succeeded in landing patrol members and capturing thirteen German prisoners.
