Framed Print of When the blitz was at its height the Rev. Douglas Polhill of St

When the blitz was at its height the Rev. Douglas Polhill of St. Michaels Church, Battersea wondered how he could get most of his old parishioners away to country where it was safe. Mrs Polhill came to the rescue and with her little capital took a large house Westlands, West Grinstead, Sussex, and all the old folk that could get away stayed at this house as guests. Mrs Ann Prior, 94, still loves kids and when a friend of Mrs Polhills arrived with David Dorling, 7.5 months, her eyes lit up. Young David seems to treat old age with great intolerance. He pulls her hair pulls her nose and has a good game with Mrs Prior. Circa 1941. © Mirrorpix
