Three stills from a film taken from Avro Lancaster Mark I, DV380 AJ-N, of No. 617 Squadron RAF, flown by the Squadron commander, Wing Commander G L Cheshire, during the low-level attack on the Gnome-Rhone aero-engine factory at Limoges, France, on the night of 8/9 February 1944. The Wing Commander flew his Lancaster low over the factory three times before the attack to warning the French workers of the impending air raid. The sequence shows 30-lb incendiary bombs exploding over the centre of the factory during Wing Commander G L Cheshires fourth pass. Each of the following Lancasters then dropped a 12, 000 bomb on the markers with great accuracy
