A Coastal command Liberator was damaged by blast after attacking a German U-boat
A Coastal command Liberator was damaged by blast after attacking a German U-boat. It was brought back over 800 miles of sea during which time it persisted in climbing despite the efforts of both pilots to control it, and made a crash landing at a home base.
The crew were congratulated by coastal command on their fine work in bringing back the aircraft safely.
Photo shows: The tail gun turret and twin rudders after the crash landing.
