RAF Coastal Command Beaufighters attack two armed enemy trawers off the Frisian Islands in the North Sea.
A large strike force searching for shipping off the Frisian Islands intercepted two armed enemy trawlers on 22nd July 1944
One of them was sunk and the other was abandoned by its crew and left derelict after attacks with torpedoes, rocket projectiles and cannon fire.
Picture shows:- RAF Coastal Command Beaufighters going in low to attack one of the trawlers, hidden in smoke and spray (bottom right). The lines leading from the wings tips of the aircraft are vapour trails caused by atmospheric conditions.
