Beaufighters of RAF and RCAF squadrons of RAF Coastal Command attacked
Beaufighters of RAF and RCAF squadrons of RAF Coastal Command attacked and sank two enemy warships off Le Verdon, in the mouth of the River Gironde.
An Elblng class torpedo boat and a Seetier class destroyer were hit repeatedly by rocket projectiles and subsequent reconnaissance revealed only oil streaks on the water where the two warships had gone down.
Photo shows; -The torpedo boat obscured by clouds of smoke from exploding ammunition and fires which rage the length of her hull.
