Beaufighters of RAF Coastal Command escorted by
Spitfires of Fighter Command carried out a
successful attack against a large and heavily armed German convoy off the Dutch coast recently.
One medium sized merchant vessel and one smaller size vessel were hit by torpedo. Three escort vehicles were set on fire by cannon fire. The Beaufighters had to fly through heavy flak before reaching their target.

purposes which was damaged and set on fire. Left
hand bottom corner: trawler type auxiliary. The
sea at ita stern is pitted with cannon shells.The three feathers of foam (centre) are paravanestowed by the auxiliary for minesweeping. The aircraft chasing the trawler is one of the attacking Beaufighters. Ship behind Sperrbrecher (arrowed) and ship far background right are medium sized merchant vessels.Note the protecting balloons in the background.
