One of three successful attacks made by RAF bombers upon the chemical works and power station at Chocques in enemy occupied France during the Second World War.
The power house and buildings and gas holders were all damaged and rolling stock standing in the sidings was also hit.
Chocques is 1.3 miles east of Bethune. The chemical works is reported to be principally engaged in the production of synthetic ammonia.
