Framed Print of A daylight photograph taken by the RAF after the attack on the Matford Motor Works
A daylight photograph taken by the RAF after the attack on the Matford Motor Works at Poissy near Paris, France on 2nd April 1942.
The points where damage was observable are indicated
as follows:
A and B.--Very heavy bomb hits on the main building. There are two huge holes in the roof, one 75 yards by 60 yards, the other 60 yards by 30 yards.
C and D--Other big bomb holes run almost the whole length of the roof. It was In this building that several pilots claimed to have started fires, and other claims are now
borne out by the signs of severe
scorching on the roof.
E.--Elsewhere In the factory damage is also very heavy. A direct hit on the transformer station has probably caused severe blast damage, and this alone will probably stop production In most of the shops.
F and G. -Sheds and buildings in the centre of the foundry have been burnt out.
H -- Smaller buildings have suffered badly from blast and fire. Over the entire factory area a large
number of craters can be seen.
