he picture recalls on the most fearsome incidents of the heavy raids on Merseyside. During an attach by the Luftwaffe, a wayward barrage balloon became entangled in the ships rigging, a fire started and the area about the vessel became a target for a shower of incendiaries and high explosives. great heroism was shown by the ships personnel, dock workers and Civil Defence men, a number of whom were afterwards recognised in the official awards, The ship blew up while an attempt was being made to scuttle her to put the fire out. The explosion was heard all over Merseyside and pieces of the ships steelwork was recorded two and a half miles away.
Liverpool suffered many casualties in the blitz during World War Two, mostly during 28 Aug 1940 Ð 10 Jan 1942.

Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
