Bobby Charlton has his name in lights on the new electronic scoreboard at Old Trafford
Bobby Charlton has his name in lights on the new electronic scoreboard at Old Trafford. Its another record for the Manchester United skipper, as this game, against Liverpool was his 564th League appearance, a club record overtaking the number of matches played by Bill Foulkes. Former centre half Foulkes, now the reserve team coach, said " Its a pleasure to see my record go to a player like Bobby Charlton. Hes been a great player, and still is. I am sure he is going to play a lot more games for the club". Charlton played his first League game for Manchester United on 6th October 1956, against Charlton Athletic. He scored twice in this, his debut match, in a 4 - 2 win. Since then he has played 16 seasons of First Division Football.
The score at this match was Manchester United 0 - Liverpool 3.
